About Me

Hello! I am a cinematography student currently studying at 3iS, based in Paris, France.

“Is this the right shade of pink? Will it clash with the hero's costume? Does it complement the setting and the mood?” – These were some phrases I heard growing up. My mother initially pursued a career as a costume designer and subsequently transitioned into the role of a film producer. From an early age, I found myself immersed in the realm of films, encircled by their captivating presence. Every weekend and holiday was dedicated to my time on film sets, gradually exposing me to and fostering my appreciation for films.

I developed a deep appreciation for movies after watching "Baahubali", which transcended boundaries of language, region, country, and continent. Whilst most people only see the success and accolades that came after, I had the opportunity to observe the entire filmmaking process from the ground up. This experience allowed me to fall in love with the hard work and effort that goes into producing a film, and it is this aspect that drives my passion.

At 9 years old, I dedicated a significant amount of time sitting near the monitor and closely observing the director’s notes, the actors, and the numbers displayed on the screen and endeavoured to comprehend their significance. I learned about colour temperature and the meaning behind terms like 'fps'. I observed the director as he interacted with the actors, providing them with feedback and never backing down until he achieved the desired outcome. Furthermore, I watched the actors take the director's notes and incorporate the subtle nuances he requested into their performances.

Eventually, my mother started a production company that gave me a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking industry. During my breaks, I worked at her production house and gained knowledge in areas such as budgeting, marketing, and maintaining a positive environment for everyone to work. This taught me important values like dedication and commitment.

Working as an assistant cinematographer during my holidays and gap year was when I became fully sure that this is truly something I am capable of doing. I coordinated between the art, costume and direction departments, learnt about the importance of colours, having a colour palette, and the influence lighting has on mood. I also understood the importance of social media campaigns, script analysis and effective communication skills.

I have always believed in learning by doing. I am passionate towards filmmaking with an increasing interest in cinematography and production specifically.
